THE PEARL (John STEINBECK)

Kino and Juana has a son called Coyotitto. They are poor, but happy. They make a living out of the pearls they find inside the sea. One day a scorpion bites their dear Coyotitto. They get very agitated and decide to bring him to the doctor. But the doctor think that they have no money to afford and gets rid of them not dealing with the small Coyotitto. Upon this behaviour of the doctor, Kino puts out to sea to find a pearl.Juana now prays for her husband for finding a big pearl, not for Coyotitto to get well.And all goes well, Kino finds the biggest pearl of the world.However, this pearl does not bring them joy and happiness, it brings fear and danger. Kino thinks that this pearl would change their life in the positive way.He dreams of Coyotito going to the school. He would marry to Juana in the church. They would buy new clothes. Everybody soon learns about the pearl. The doctor ,too, learns this and comes to the house of Kino. He cures Coyotitto.That night someone breaks into their house and tries to take the pearl,but can not succeed. Juana is very scared of this situation.
The other day Kino goes to sell the pearl,but all the buyers say that it is not precious and offer very less money. Kino does not believe them and decides to sell his pearl in the city. That night Juana thinks of throwing the pearl to the sea, because it brings them sadness.But Kino hinders his wife.At the same night a man attacks Kino and tries to get the pearl,but Kino kills him. So, they has to go away from there.After some time they come to their home,but see that somebody has burned it.They stay in Kino's brother that day. But someone sees them. They set off that night with tree people after them. Kino and Juana hides in an inn. Kino decides to kill them. When he is very near them, Coyotitto suddenly cries. They think that it is the cry of a dog. Then, Kino kills them. And they throw away the pearl that only brings them sadness and badness to the sea...
